There is a beauty that comes from scholars interacting with well written literature. The wonder that is engaged when the children invest their hearts and mind in the lives of the well penned characters on the page. This is an example of the emotional connection that I have witnessed our scholars experience as we travel through The Princess and the Goblin. Picture Source This week...Spalding - Like Riding a Bike Last week dipped our toe back into the Spalding pool. We warmed up our fingers, refreshed ourselves on phonograms, and utilized the power of the syllable. This week we will be returning to our old routines of Spalding homework four-days a week and a Spelling Test on Friday. History - British Surrender This week we complete our exploration of the American Revolution. The scholars will have a study guide to help them through their notes in order to prepare for their test on Thursday. Friday we will begin to learn about the importance of a strong central government that is still controlled by the people. Our focus: The Constitution of the United States. Math - Area and Perimeter Exploring more of the wonderful world of Geometry your scholar will attempt to understand how to discover the area and perimeter of a given shape. This is genuinely an exploration of math. We will get to see the scholars discuss, recall, and imagine formulas and equations to accomplish that task before them. Literature - The Princess and the Goblin In Literature,we continue reading The Princess and the Goblin. We will return our minds to the mystery of the Princess’s Gandmother and her great gifts upon Irene. Language Arts - AzMerit Reading Review In language arts this week, Scholars will write an essay persuading their readers just whom the greatest knight is in King Arthur’s Court.
